With Haley Cassar, Makeup Artist and Skincare Advocate
Did you know the attitude we wake up with in the morning could impact our mood for the rest of the day? That’s why it’s so important to begin our day with something positive. For example, I begin every day looking in the mirror and saying, “Good morning, Florine! It’s going to be a great day and you’re going to make it great!” How do you start your day? Are you checking your phone and crossing off items on your to-do list? Are you rushing around trying to get to work or to get the kids out the door? Or do you begin your day with meditation or exercise? Before you step out of the house in the morning, do you spend a few moments on your hair and makeup or do you feel it’s only necessary for special occasions when you want to look your very best for family or friends? How about doing it just for you? I do it because it gives me that extra lift. What gives you that extra lift?
Research has shown that during the pandemic having a daily routine and doing simple tasks helped maintain our sense of normalcy and actually improved our mental outlook. But there are times when we want to try something new. Right now is a great time to update your look or experiment with different techniques and products to change your style. Even men are taking more care of their appearance. In addition to grooming, hairstyling, and improving skincare routines, plastic surgeons are also seeing many more men coming in for procedures. Did you know there are special techniques makeup artists use for camera-ready makeup that lasts for hours? Do you ever wonder what it takes for Hollywood stars to get ready for their red carpet appearances? Wouldn’t it be great if we could learn some of those secrets too?
My guest today, Haley Cassar, is a professional makeup artist and skin care advocate. Haley shares tricks and tips for applying makeup to suit every occasion; from a quick everyday look to getting ready for the next big event!
What You’ll Hear on This Episode:
Today’s Takeaway: I know I look better when I take the time to put a touch of makeup on. From a mental health standpoint, doing something that makes us feel better about ourselves is a sign of a healthy sense of self and indicative of good self-care. Having a routine that is familiar and constant in our lives can feel very comforting. Remember, every day is a gift. Sometimes the simplest of things such as routinely applying makeup, styling our hair, or doing early morning stretches help us start the day with a smile. I’m Florine Mark and that’s “Today’s Takeaway.”
